The AWARE Society is a non-profit organization with a volunteer Board of Directors.  AWARE's original mandate was to provide special employment counselling services to women with multiple employment barriers. Over the years, however, services have been extended to include both men and women.  In November 1976, funded by the Federal Government Outreach Program, the AWARE Society opened the first office with a staff of three on 6th Street in New Westminster.  In April of 1980, an office was opened in Surrey, and one year later, an office opened in Port Coquitlam. That office subsequently moved to Coquitlam and for eighteen years provided services to the Tri-city area.  It closed in 1999.

Currently we provide services through offices in New Westminster, Surrey, and Cloverdale.  The New Westminster office also provides Wage Subsidy programs for EI eligible clients, as well as for youth who are NOT in receipt of assistance.

AWARE specializes in facilitating employment services responsive to individual and community needs. We are client focused and resourceful at Assisting With Awareness Regarding Employment.
